Hello @makoberi
The file system may have gone corrupted.
Windows as an operating system is very 'blind' about such issues and cannot fix them easily. Although there may be other solutions or suggestions, I recommend you boot outside Windows (in Linux environment) and format the drive from there.
You will need :
- either 1 empty/blank USB thumb drive OR 1 empty/blank DVD disk - different from the one you have issues with.
- Linux based operating system - free to download - e.g. Linux Mint
You can directly download Ubuntu Desktop from Ubuntu's web site:
Download the x64 ISO > https://linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=230
Hp Format Usb Flash Drive
Save on your Desktop, for example.
Once ready, you need to write the ISO to make a bootable media (e.g. bootable DVD or USB drive). Here is how:
How to create bootable ISO on USB device >> http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows
or
How to write ISO to DVD >> http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/burn-a-dvd-on-windows
Instructions in the links are for Ubuntu, use them for example and reference only. Use the Linux Mint ISO file.
When ready with the USB drive or with the DVD: Bahut pyar karte hai 1921 song download.
* Boot into BIOS (if using HP computer, keep pressing F10 during boot process)
* Ensure Secure Boot is disabled (if applicable for your model)
* Ensure Legacy mode is enabled (if applicable for your model)
* Save the UEFI/BIOS changes.
(if applicable for your model) Details if you have an HP computer >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03653226
Eventually, please, shutdown the computer using the power button.
Insert the Ubuntu USB thumdrive or the Ubuntu DVD prepared previously
Power on the PC.
As soon as you press the power-on button, keep hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap).
This should open a HP Startup Menu
Choose F9 to open Boot options. Select the thumb drive as boot option.
Follow the on-screen instructions to start Linux Mint - do not install it
Linux Mint operating system should load.
- Plug in your new pendrive v236w in your USB port in the computer
- Click on the Linut Mint 'Start button' / Mint button
- Type gpar and start GParted app
- Once it loads, on the right side check the drop down selection menu and
choose your v236w from there - it may be called elsewhere but the size is 16GB or around 16GB
- Once it loads, select the partition from the below list , like first line like dev/sdb1 - may be called different and may be unknown file system
- Right click it and choose Unmount
- Once again, select the partition from the below list and right click it and select Delete (if any partition found) . Confirm. Errors may appear because of the broken partition table.
- Once again, select the partition from the below list. Click on Device. Choose to Create partition table and select msdos from the partition table list. Confirm
- Once again, select the partition from the below list and right click it and select New
- Confirm to create FAT 32 partition and confirm
- Click on Edit -> Apply all changes. Wait and confirm. Errors may appear because of the broken partition table. If in any doubt, repeate the steps above
- Close GParted app and restart the PC using the Linux Start (Mint) button. Follow the on-screen instructions
FINAL STEPS:
If you are going to save files larger than 4 GBs and if you are going to use primary Windows, reformat the USB flash drive into NTFS file system - Microsoft's native file system. Open File Explorer, navigate to the Flash drive, right click it and choose to FORMAT. Make sure you select NTFS file system. Hope this helps.

Greedy and shortsighted perhaps, but not stupid. The last airbender new movie. These executives ain’t stupid. And considering that a large part of the 2010 film’s failure was people being royally pissed off at all the racebending shenanigans and other radical interpretations of the text look.

Windows Cannot Format Usb Flash Drive

USB flash drives are this century's floppies, holding everything from personal and medical information to music and pictures and even secure data, with the added advantage of being small and rugged enough for keychain duty. You can even boot from flash drives, just like the old floppies, which, together with portability, universal compatibility, and enough space to host useful tools, makes them ideal recovery devices. Hewlett-Packard's USB Disk Storage Format Tool can quickly and thoroughly format virtually any USB flash drive in a wide range of file systems as well as create bootable USB media. We tested it in Windows 7.
This compact tool has an equally compact interface, an efficient little dialog with selections for Device and File system, and an entry field for Volume label, and check boxes for format options, including the ability to create a bootable DOS start-up disk using either internal system files or files at a location you can specify. Other than Start and Close buttons, that's it, not even a Help file, though this tool is easy enough to figure out without one. We moved the data off of an older 1GB flash drive and inserted the drive in an open USB port. HP USB immediately identified it and its file type, FAT. We chose to reformat it in NTFS and enable compression. We clicked Start, and a pop-up warned us all data on the drive would be lost. We allowed it to proceed, and it formatted the drive in seconds. Clicking Close called up a small dialog with detailed information about the drive. We then moved the data back to the newly reformatted drive, ejected it, reinserted it, and verified that everything was in order, including our portable apps.
HP's little tool is the USB flash drive tool that could, bringing enhanced power and capability to your Windows system at no cost. We recommend it to anyone who uses flash drives.
